This styled shoot was 3 months ago & this blog post should have been 3 months ago, but I honestly had no clue what to write. I wanted to make this blog post to show how proud I was of myself for putting together a styled shoot in a brand new city basically all on my “own”. This project took place on March 15, 2020…the days, weeks, & months following have been a whirlwind, to say the least.
Looking back, I am so beyond thankful I was able to complete this project before the chaos took place. I think it’s safe to say I couldn’t have picked a better spot to put a bookmark in my journey. Three months passed before I picked up my brushes again, three months of uncertainty, three months to do nothing but hope for the light at the end of the tunnel. While I don’t personally think the storm clouds are completely cleared, there is a break & I see the blue skies ahead. But enough about Miss Rona… let’s get into these absolutely stunning details!!
If you’ve been around my website, it’s no secret I formerly worked in Las Vegas. There, I was blessed with styled shoots, stunning real weddings, & endless creative outlets. When I moved to Iowa I knew I wasn’t ready to give that up. After getting settled in our new home, I immediately started researching & reaching out to other wedding vendors to put together a styled shoot. But not just any styled shoot… this had to be different. I didn’t want your typical midwest setting or well known vendors. This one was for the new kids on the block.
When searching for up & coming wedding venues, I fell head over heels for Tamory Hall. Located in the center of Pella, right off of the town square, Tamory Hall brings luxury events to a historic area. The modern sleek details are met with exposed brick, original to the building, for the most stunning canvas for wedding decor. Not to mention, a jaw dropping bridal suite, perfect for getting ready with your bridal party.
A styled shoot would be literally nothing without a photographer & boy oh boy, did I ever hit the jackpot finding Heather Ferreria. Her portfolio was exactly what I was looking for- intimate, candid, & real. She really knew how to showcase her couples love in a still image. We met up to chat about our ideas & what we expected out of this before moving forward.
Heather made this shoot what it is. She brought in an energy I would have loved to have on my wedding day. There were lots of real laughs, memories, & special moments. Heather was super resourceful & helped me bring a lot of my visions to life.
For the Bride’s gown, I wanted something classic with a touch of boho. Rita at Pure Bridal was so extremely friendly & helpful. She had tons of options & stayed mindful of our vision. She absolutely nailed it with this dress.
The Groom’s suit was provided by Milroy’s Tuxedos. The store manager, Nicholas, added in the blush tie & square with subtle floral detailing because groom details are important. It’s his day, too!
Y’all when I say I was shook to my core when Maggie asked if I wanted these for the shoot.
The finishing touches were the table settings from Beyond Elegance. A velvet runner paired with a satin table cloth was exactly what we needed to keep the soft romantic feel against the rustic exposed brick.
In true fine art wedding photography style, this shoot was all about the details. Nothing was missed by photographer, Heather & her husband Mikhail. Check out the stunning shots below and enjoy links to all the vendors IG accounts.
